Associate Professor Amanda Gwee from The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute has been named the 2025 recipient of the Peter Doherty Leading Light Award by the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR). This is a well deserved acknowledgment of her work identifying an effective scabies medication dosing strategy in young children <15kg, who currently have no oral treatments available to them.
The ASMR Peter Doherty Leading Light Award is named in recognition of Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty, whose scientific achievements and commitment to science advocacy continue to inspire the research community. This award celebrates the achievements of mid-career researchers in Australia, recognising a single piece of work undertaken within the last 5 years.
